GLW1406 : No Back To Sbbud Lanrug

Saturday 223rd August 2014

The idea was to go back to Gurnal Dubbs (yesterday's target, see GLW1405) but from the other side, i.e. via Ghyll Pool and Potter Tarn. The sun was shining in Kendal and the forecast was for a sunny evening.

However, that was for Kendal.  Just five miles north into the hills was a different matter.  It started off bright but we could see the clouds coming in from the north and by the time we reached Potter Tarn, it was obvious that climbing up to Gurnal Dubbs and back down ran the risk of cold and rain.  Accordingly we did the sensible thing and headed back down towards the River Kent, experiencing a light shower, several Thirlmere pipeline gates, a thorn attacking my nose and a bright rainbow on the way.

So, a pleasant walk but no back to Sbbud Lanrug !
